I was born in Norwich 50 years ago and have lived in Pulham St Mary near Diss with my wife Beverley since 2012.
At University in Westminster (London), I gained a first-class degree in Electronic Engineering, I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and am a director within my own business.
For nearly ten years I was a member of 7010 (VR) Sqn, Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAF Reserves), as a fully trained IntO (specialising in imagery analysis) I deployed twice on oversea tours to Afghanistan (2008) and Middle East (2009) and knowing that you’re helping to support / guide troops through hostile territory, helping to bring them back safely after they have completed a mission, is incredibly rewarding.
I have been an active Community Campaigner for over 20yrs having served as a Parish Council Chairman (Cambourne) and District Councillor (Bourn Ward) in South Cambridgeshire previously.
I was first elected to South Norfolk Council in May 2015 for Beck Vale Ward which covered Pulham Market, Pulham St Mary & Starston. In 2017 The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) undertook a district boundary review for South Norfolk. This changed a number of the ward boundaries (The South Norfolk (Electoral Changes) order 2017 can be seen here). As a result I stood for election for the new ward of Beck Vale, Dickleburgh & Scole at the 2nd May 2019 elections (Result here) and re-election on 4th May 2023. (Results here) my 3rd term is due to end in May 2027.
Finally since 2010 I have played a big hand in getting super-fast broadband rolled out, initially in Cambourne as a lead campaigner encouraging residents of Bourn, Cambourne and Caxton to vote for their exchange (Caxton) where virtually every eligible address voted in BT’s Race for Infinity competition, then lobbying to ensure the Pulham Market exchange area was upgraded as part of the BDUK / Better Broadband for Norfolk initiative (2015-19) with Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) and then more recently to get Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) also known as Fibre to the Home (FTTH) to properties in Starston, Pulham St Mary & Pulham Market as part of Gigabit Voucher Scheme (2019-2022) which the was delivered via County Broadband.
